BARBARA OLIVE
Like many artists, I had always yearned to be a painter. Since my attempts in that area were mediocre at best, I had given up on any artistic pursuits. I became a potter eight years ago, somewhat by accident. I had been growing and exhibiting roses, including rose arrangements, for well over twenty years. I had tremendous difficulty finding containers that I liked so I decided to make my own. I enrolled in a pottery class and fell in love with the process. As I began using my containers in shows people would ask me about them and I began selling them. Eventually I began doing artistic pieces in addition to the containers. I have loved experimenting with the medium. Although pottery is considered to be a very traditional art form I love putting a modern twist on it.
